Cogitate Yuan Pai: Ayutthaya history in literature
Assistant professor Dr. Saowanit Wingwon

           Yuan pai is the glorification literature. The word “yuan Pai” means to “the suffer defeat of Yonok or Chaing Mai”. This story was wriiten in the period of Ayutthaya to praise the ability of king Borommatrilokkanart to defeat the war with Phrachao Tilokkarat of Chaing Mai. The original one wrote on the first page that “the glorification of Phrachao Changphuek “did not appear when it was written or who wrote it. The literate has assumed story, year and the author as following. Somdej Phra Borommawongther Kromphraya Dumrong Rajanuphap thought that it might be composed in the reign of King Ramathibodi II who was the son of King borommatrilokkanart. Por, Nor. Pramuanmark thought that it was composed in the reign of King borommatrilokkanart during 2017-2025 B.C. because it said about the war in Chaing Chuen in 2017 and it should be composed before the translation of Mahachart kumluang in 2025 because in Yuan pai, the author has praised the literature treasure but not talked about Mahachart kumluang. For Chanthit Kraseasin thought that Yuan Pai has defeated Yonok as the history indicated that in 2058, Phra Muangkeaw offered the gold and silver flower to the king of Ayutthaya. Yuan Pai was probably composed in the period of the king Ramathibodi II.

           For its author, we cannot indicate who composed it. Assistant professor Dr. Saksri Yeamnatda gave the opinion that it might be one of poetry of these two persons who named “Panyapisarn” which used in Yuan Pai as “Benyapaisan” or King Ramathibodi III, the son of King Borommatrilokkanart.

           the poet Yuan Pai is the poet for 294 chapters and verse form 2 chapters. Most poets are the Kunchorn line. Some chapters has only 4 word at the last line. Besides, there are much kind of poets such as Bua Ban Keeb Kayai, Hong thongleera, Rakroi, Aksorn sarab and Kla Koson.

           The story began with the pray for Phra Rattanatrai and praised King Bormmatrilokkanart that he has been 11 horses of god in the prior life, qualification and ability of him by comparing with heroes and important persons in literature. The poetry briefly mentioned about the events which was called “Soodsathani” and then described it in detail. he referred to the birth of him at Tung Phra Uthai in the period of his father, King Ramathibodi II, took his army to attack Nakorn Thom. When his father died, King Borommatrilokkanart has reigned on the throne and told about many important events in that period such as making the war with Phra Chao Tilokkarat of Chaing Mai because Chaing Chuen city which in under to power of Chaing Mai asked for help from Ayutthaya. King Borommatrilokkanart knew in dept, so he could defeat Chaing Chuen city successfully.

           Wording in Yuan Pai was very beautiful. Some chapter used the repeat words with its beautiful meaning all entire stories, for example;
