Elephant catching in the corral
.....Elephant catching in the corral in the past did not have only in royal ceremony but it also found in the area which had many wild elephant such as South India, Lungka and Malaysia in state of Thaiburi or Keda. The method for catching elephant is similar to elephant catching in the royal corral as follow.

When a group of elephant was drove to the corral, it did not feel fear anymore. However, it felt clearly afraid when passed the brace of the corral. It would make a loud noise. However, it cannot break elephants that block the outdoor, so they followed the elephant leader into the corral. The wild elephant that has been driven many times, they will feel familiar and will enter to the corral easily. Those elephant were called “Chang Vien” and they would lead about 20- 40 elephants in to the corral as well. When they were in the corral, they would stay waiting for tomorrow.

In the date of catching, 5-7 elephants were diven into the corral. There awere the tools consisting of rope, hook, axe and cicle rope. The rope has 2 inchs of diameter and 8 wah of length. The end of rope was made the lasso that can be loosen and another side of rope was hooked with the rope tied up with the neck of elephant. The axe handle had 6 cubit of length and it had the tapering tip for insert in the loosen rope. For the hook, it is the weapon of elephant controller.
